I missed a few Wednesdays. So shoot me.

Today is a day for...

The Cure - Concert
I mentioned Camus’ ‘The Stranger’ the other day, which reminded me of Robert Smith’s ‘Killing an Arab’, which had me head straight for this live version. It almost makes me want to resurrect my Mohawk and Doc Martens. Almost.

Black Label Society - Order of the Black
I can totally get my head around this. Even if it is selling a gazillion copies. Unlike...

The Dillinger Escape Plan - Option Paralysis
These guys, I can’t get at all. This is my fourth try. Not happening today. Didn’t yesterday. Tomorrow looks iffy, too. I likely have a fatal flaw in my musical metalbolism. I. Just. Don’t Get. ‘Em.

My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
So long as I have this, my CD collection will never be loveless.

Iron Maiden - The Final Frontier
Resistance was futile. I was assimilated when Bruce Dickinson ate me for lunch. What’s not to love? That I really should know better?

White Zombie - Astrocreep 2000
There’s something about White Zombie and the state of being permanently pissed off that go together like chocolate and peanut butter. Listening to this, I am capable of anything. Absolutely. Anything.

Mozart - Don Giovanni
Wolfgang doing metal, or the closest 18th-century operatic equivalent. Staggering. Really.

D-A-D - Helpyourselfish
One of the great under-the-international-radar bands of DK. They’ve existed for over twenty-five years and are still going strong. And as frontman Jesper Binzer sings, if you can’t be good, be careful!

So I try...

Jeff, how's the Brandon Flowers?

taotechuck - I've only listened to it two times, but so far I don't like it. It sounds like The Killers without the charisma. It's kind of dull.

Jeff-Seasons in the abyss has always been to me the one weak link in and otherwise very good to great career for Slayer. I admit that I have not listened to it years, but it was like all snarl and growl with no energy or spirit behind it. Although I probably should give it another chance at some point.

Bars of Gold - Of Gold

I think that's the only thing I listened to all week and I only played it once.
